H&S Announces New Hires and Promotions

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Hood & Strong LLP, a leading California-based advisory, tax and assurance firm, is pleased to announce the addition of two new experienced team members and the promotions of three audit professionals.

Kristen Jackson joins Hood & Strong as a Senior Director in the firm’s Not-for-Profit Client Accounting Services (CAS) Group, which provides customized accounting and financial expertise, board training, and outsourced CFO and controller services to a wide range of nonprofit organizations. Jackson brings more than 25 years of experience in both private and public accounting to the team, with a focus on financial reporting, management, audit, tax and compliance. She is an affiliate member of the American Institute of CPAs and holds a B.S. in business administration from Northeastern University.

Michael Prothero, CPA joins the firm as a Tax Manager specializing in tax planning and compliance services for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses. Bringing prior experience with a large national accounting firm, Prothero is a member of the California Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accountancy from the University of Montana.

Audit Senior Managers Emily Murphy, CPA and Matthew Corder, CPA have been promoted to Audit Directors, responsible for overseeing key firm-wide audit and assurance operations and strategic initiatives. Audit Manager Nicholas Schroyer, CPA has been promoted to Senior Manager in recognition of his work with a variety of nonprofit and commercial clients.

Murphy began her career with Hood & Strong and over the last decade has overseen the audit process for a variety of businesses and nonprofit organizations. She is a member of the firm’s Quality Control Committee and supports technical research projects and in-house training initiatives. Murphy holds a degree in business management economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Corder joined Hood & Strong in 2014 and specializes in audit engagements for closely-held businesses, nonprofits, and employee benefit plans. He also shares his expertise as a member of the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) Group. Corder received his bachelor’s in accounting at Texas Christian University and an M.S. in accounting from the University of Texas.

Schroyer joined Hood & Strong shortly after receiving his degree in economics and accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In addition to his client assignments, he currently serves as head of the firm’s Process Innovation Group.
